Amsterdam Science Park

 
The Amsterdam Science Park was an initiative of the Dutch Organisation for Scientific Research (NOW), the Rabobank (commercial bank), the City of Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. Zernike Group was the manager of the Amsterdam Science Park from 1996-2003. The main goal of the Park was to stimulate the transfer of knowledge from research institutions in and around Amsterdam to small and medium sized businesses in co-operation with the universities, higher vocational schools and intermediary organisations.
 

BioPartner Centre Amsterdam

 

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has granted a total amount of € 11.5 million for the establishment of six BioPartner Centres in The Netherlands. These BioPartner Centres are incubator-buildings that will offer suitable accommodation for the start-up life science companies. The Centres comprise office space, laboratories, the required permits and the full infrastructure that a starting entrepreneur shares with other life science start-ups in the Centre.  Zernike Group has developed the Amsterdam BioPartner Centre in 2002.

Regional Technology Centre IJmond

 
RTC was established to stimulate the economical activity in the region IJmond. It does so by supporting companies on innovations, technological development, knowledge sharing and internationalization. The RTC also stimulates companies to co-operate with each other.
 

Twinning Centre Amsterdam

 

The Twinning Centre was established and developed by Zernike Group in 1998 with the primary mission of stimulating ICT entrepreneurship in the Netherlands by offering venture capital, incubation housing and managerial support and access to network to start-up companies. Previously the financial climate for ICT start-up companies was unfavourable resulting in the difficulty of obtaining capital and setting up business. Hence, the purpose of the Twinning Centre was to stimulate and improve the environment for new start-up companies in the ICT sector through providing ICT companies with risk bearing capital.

IDEA Centers BV

 

IDEA Centers BV was created as a joint venture between Zernike Ventures, the investment fund of Zernike Group BV. The objective of the company is to develop business-to-business relations by providing technology incubators for start-up companies. Part of the IDEA methodology is to select appropriate locations close to universities, research centres and higher education institutes. The creation of the first centre was in 2001 in Groningen and the second in Zaanstad in 2002. More IDEA Centers are planned in Europe.


 

Technology Park Western Australia

 

The Technology Park was opened in 1985 and is an important catalyst for Science and Technology development in Western Australia, where many of the State's Science and Technology companies are based. The Park provides accommodation for companies which operate in technology-based industries or which contribute to the adoption of technological improvements in other industries. Its growth over the past five years has been dramatic with the number of organizations based there growing from 25 to over 70 employing about 1.700 people, with approximately 30% of the people employed at the Technology Park engaged in R&D activities and the majority of the organizations exporting their products and services.

Brisbane Technology Park, Australia

 
The Brisbane Technology Park is an important part of the Queensland Government's Smart State initiative, ensuring a whole-of-government approach to innovation and new-age industries that involves education and training, and a focus on research, biotech and information technology. Currently, the Park is a home to >30 companies employing over 1, 500 people, similar to the size of the Australian Technology Park in Sydney.
 

Normanby IDEA Centre, United Kingdom


The Normanby Idea Centre is an incubator based in Normanby Gateway managed by Zernike UK Limited. The Normanby Gateway is a new purpose built, multi-occupancy, ICT centre located at the entrance to the Normanby Enterprise Park on the northern outskirts of Scunthorpe in Northern Lincolnshire. The aim of this Centre is to encourage small start-up business and so benefit the local economy of North Lincolnshire by stimulating the growth of opportunities and higher value jobs in the area. The Centre is particularly appropriate for IT based businesses or those with a high level usage of ICT although other applications are considered.

Business Innovation Centre Noord-Nederland (BIC NN)

The Business Innovation Centre Noord-Nederland (BIC NN) is an independent foundation, and was part of an international network (EBN) of 190 members across Europe. The BIC is a concept framed by the European Community to stimulate regional activity. BIC NN creates innovative and internationalizing projects, and advises on financial grants (fully and integrated) on business creation. The core of all activities of BIC NN can be defined as knowledge transfer.
