Zernike Fund Management

Zernike Fund Management manages several funds, private as well as public. Aim of our fund management is to manage the fund in such a manner that the objectives of the fund owners are attained. Keywords are efficiency and continuity. An important feature is that particularly public funds are focussed on a certain region and /or certain target group, that is in need of extra economic impulses.

Many regions in the Netherlands can be characterised as areas with a market for risk bearing (seed and venture) capital in order to finance detection, development and assessment of initial concepts at the seed (beginning) stage. Vast experience has proven that new, commercially promising, technologies often get stuck in an early stage, due to the lack of risk-bearing capital and a proper market approach. This means that important innovations have often been lost. The "usual" finance companies (banks, etc.) are not too keen on providing capital in the pre-start up phase of highly innovative businesses. The start-up funds such as, Zernike Seed Fund (ZSF), Seaside Technology and Innovation Fund (STIF), Biopartner Start-up Ventures, ROF and SIMKBIJ, cover this gap in an efficient and business like way.

In general we operate as follows:

  • Stimulating entrepreneurs-to-be in exploiting their specific talents and ideas in new areas of industry.
  • Supporting entrepreneurs-to-be in drawing up business plans and business strategies in the field of market analysis, feasibility studies, financial planning, commercial contacts, recruitment of additional management.
  • Financing technical development of new products or product-prototypes.
  • Providing advice and support in bringing new products or product prototypes into a commissioning phase.
  • Providing advice and support in bringing the business idea to a stage where it will be interesting for investment by a venture capital organisation.
